Code of conduct for parents/ carers/ coaches
- Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them
- Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials or other members of the club
- Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results
- Support your child’s involvement and help them enjoy tennis
- Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances for both teams
- Never punish, or belittle a child for losing or making a mistake
- Publicly accept official’s judgements
- Use correct and proper language at all times
- Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour
- Clear up balls, clothing, any litter, bottles or other rubbish left after play on courts and club house and use the bins provided
- Keep the courts and club house in a tidy state of repair including clearing balls, rubbish and washing up used cups etc
- Ensure club house and courts are locked securely after play
- Appreciate we have a great club and help to support it and keep it that way
Code of conduct for adult & junior members
- This includes all points above and also:
- Play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race and cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity
- Keep to agreed timings for training, competitions, or inform their coach of any delay
- Wear suitable kit for training and match sessions as agreed with the coach
- Pay fees and coaching fees for training, matches, coaching promptly
- Do not smoke or consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club
- Encourage those around you to enjoy tennis
- Accept match play has priority on match days
