Code of conduct for parents/ carers/ coaches

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them
  • Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials or other members of the club
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results
  • Support your child’s involvement and help them enjoy tennis
  • Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances for both teams
  • Never punish, or belittle a child for losing or making a mistake
  • Publicly accept official’s judgements
  • Use correct and proper language at all times
  • Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour
  • Clear up balls, clothing, any litter, bottles or other rubbish left after play on courts and club house and use the bins provided
  • Keep the courts and club house in a tidy state of repair including clearing balls, rubbish and washing up used cups etc
  • Ensure club house and courts are locked securely after play
  • Appreciate we have a great club and help to support it and keep it that way

Code of conduct for adult & junior members

  • This includes all points above and also:
  • Play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race and cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity
  • Keep to agreed timings for training, competitions, or inform their coach of any delay
  • Wear suitable kit for training and match sessions as agreed with the coach
  • Pay fees and coaching fees for training, matches, coaching promptly
  • Do not smoke or consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club
  • Encourage those around you to enjoy tennis
  • Accept match play has priority on match days
